Spring Break!

The week before break was a rough one and I could not wait to get away for a bit and relax.
I was fortunate enough to spend the entire week with my dear friend Lindsey!  She kindly took me to her hometown and introduced me to her wonderful family and friends.  [I know you're going to read this so I just want to tell you thank you very much, again :)]
Unfortunately, I cannot describe every single moment we had but I will try and give a brief bullet points of them!
  • Walmart in Marble Falls, I met her sweet dad, and her cat, Teddy
  • Aquarena/Picture taking in San Marcos
  • Met her best friend Kendra and her cute son Daniel!
  • Kayaked at Inks Lake State Park
  • Visited the town of Blanco! -Doctors appointment for Lindsey's clogged ear, met her sweet mom, and her friend Katherine
  • Went to a nice dinner in Marble Falls with Father Rodgers
  • Port O'Connor!!
  • Got to fish, drive the boat, see some jellyfish, and meet Ms. Carol
  • *Sad News* My sweet Penelope (tarantula) passed away during break. I was very sad but Lindsey was sweet enough to help me give her a proper burial.
  • Ended with a great dinner Saturday night with her Mom and great family and a drive back to San Angelo!
Thank you to everyone who contributed: out of San Angelo and in San Angelo once I was back :) !!
School has begun again and coming to an end...
My sweet Craig's birthday was yesterday and I really hope he enjoyed his dinner!
Things I am looking forward to:
  • Signing for an apartment with Devan and Stacy! (Hopefully soon)
  • Devan's birthday! (April 6)
  • Amanda's bridal shower! (April 16)
  • Last day of school! (May 6)
  • My best friend, Hannah, to be in Texas!!! (May 13)
  • See my wonderful family/friends and be in Arizona! (tbd)
I hope everyone had or is having a great spring break! Oh! And let me just say, I ADORE Spring! :)
Until next time...

Amor a la Mexicana!

Viva la Raza!
Mexican-American is who I am.  Sometimes I feel like I don't stay in touch with my roots or express that side of me correctly-correctly according to "standards."  My mom has both Mexican and Spanish blood running through her veins while my dad just has Mexican.
Something you may not know about me is that I am a fluent Spanish speaker, writer, and reader! I enjoy being able to say that I am a Latina. All I can do is embrace who I am and be proud of my heritage.
I grew up listening to "Rancheras," "NorteƱo," "Mariachi," and "Cumbias"-shout out to my father-although I was deprived as a child and didn't go to bailes (dances) causing me to have little to no dancing rhythm. However,  I have acquired some moves over the years so no worries! ;)
I stopped listening to that kind of music for a while, but over the last month I have gotten really into it again with the help of my diverse roomate who enjoys that music as well! Over the last couple of days I have made a playlist with salsa and cumbia music to just turn on whenever I feel like wearing a flowy skirt and some heels to dance in my room! Judge if you must! :)
Sometimes I suck at doing "traditional"-I use quotations because what may be traditional to someone may not be traditional to the next- Mexican things. For example, this past December my friend Hannah wanted some authentic horchata (google it) and let's just say it didn't taste as delicious as when my lovely mother made it.  BUT, I learned! I do know how to cook other yummy Mexican dishes which makes up for my lack of being able to make a drink...or so I like to think!
My family is loud-especially when we have reunions with all the cousins, tias, tios, etc- you either hate it or love it. Honestly, we could care less. We stick together and will feed you until WE think you've had enough.
You may have guessed this already, but I was feelin this side of me tonight and decided to write about it! :)  Thank you for taking the time to read this...that's it for now.
I am attatching a picture of my mom and dad when they were in their 20's? :)

Love and Happiness to you all!

Let's see how this goes ;)

I have been wanting to start a blog for a while now so....here we are!  I'm not sure how many people will follow me or are even interested in reading what I have to say, but I think I will enjoy it and that is all that matters.  This will also give my sister an opportunity to know what is going on in my life which she will love.  So, I think that is all for my first post but I will have more to say next time! :)
